Dry Needling is is an invasive procedure where a fine needle or acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. It is aimed at myofascial trigger points (MTrP) which are hyperirritable, hypersensitive spots in skeletal muscle. The goal is to find a “twitch response” once the trigger point is reached.
The result will be reduction of muscle tension and pain, as well as increase of range of motion.
This is a very successful technique for cervicogenic headaches, stubborn muscle tightness and trigger point referred pain.
